Achaglachgach Estate

Guests can fish for trout in the burn on the private hill loch, or in the sea pool at Torinturk. Deer stalking can also be arranged if booked prior to arrival. The estate has a Victorian walled garden, and on the hill above, there is a preserved oak wood teaming with wildlife (including a red squirrel!). The estate rowing boat is available (at your own risk) to view the breathtaking scenery or watch the seals bathe by the shore.

Local Activities

Enjoy empty sandy beaches and endless walks. At Torinturk (one mile from the estate), there are the Bronze Age Achaglachgach Cairns, and a medieval hill fort. At Tarbert, there is a nine-hole golf course, shops, pubs, boats and pony-trekking stables. You can also eat at The Anchorage, an award-winning restaurant.

Within half an hour's drive, there is Skipness Castle, Kilmartin Museum and Dunadd, where the Kings of Scotland were once crowned. The estate is 15 minyes from the ferry to Jura and Islay, and near the ten-minute ferry to the little island of Gigha with its hotel and the famous Achamore Gardens.
